During a NeuroStar Advanced Therapy treatment session, a magnet similar in strength to that used in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine is used to stimulate nerve cells in the area of the brain thought to control mood. These magnetic pulses may have a positive effect on the brain’s neurotransmitter levels, making long-term remission possible.

Since the FDA clearance of NeuroStar Advanced Therapy TMS in 2008, insurance coverage for eligible patients has increased significantly. Currently, there are over 60 coverage polices for NeuroStar Advanced Therapy TMS, including most Medicare contractors. Although NeuroStar Advanced Therapy TMS is not a first line of treatment, it is an alternative option for those who are not responding to or cannot tolerate medications.

What Our Patients Have to Say

TMS has definitely been the best value-added part to my therapy.

I was feeling so hopeless and numb from only being treated by talk therapy and medication. TMS rebooted my brain in ways that my other treatments could [then] work to help with my depression.

M.J.

I was very depressed and had tried many different medications without any results.

TMS was the only thing that worked and it worked really well. Six months later, and I am still feeling good. It has been a lifesaver.

A.C.

TMS has helped me in unexplainable ways.

It has given me the strength to face the problems in my life. Now that I can face those problems, I’ve learned how to let them go.
